To my beloved ARFs,
You have showered me with cards, gifts, emails, and on this page and you've made my day so happy. I meant to write today, but I was very lucky to receive too many phone calls to do that. Now, I'm going over to spend dinner time with Tweets and take-out Chinese. I'm a fortunate woman, indeed. I got a photo of my billboard at Sunset BLVD and Fairfax in Hollywood today. It was such a thrill! So all you movie star ARFs, (there must be thousands :*)) be sure and drive by? I hope to have some news soon about more miniseries to come. Lee Shallat, from the Crisis Clinic, you live down there. I miss you. Send me an email? I love you all, and empathize with your ups and your downs. Seems as though we're all on a roller-coaster in this life. Dawn, I will write to you privately. The sun is growing warm here in Bermuda, and the silky sand squishes between my toes. Here comes the muscular beach boy with a tropical drink for me. I know, I know. I'm really in Seattle, it's rainy, and bleak out-but I still love it here. My big-leafed maples are almost golden. Anyone in the Seattle-Tacoma area, please check my homepage for a benefit luncheon to help sexual assault victims where I'll be speaking on 10/28th?
I'm off to celebrate! Bless you for remembering me!

Oh the shock of it all. Pattie's Bill with another woman. He's gonna get it when he gets home. Carole Yarmo in Toronto--I used to live in Niagara Falls. Can you pick up channels in Buffalo? If not, maybe one of the ARFs could tape my miniseries for you? Saying prayers for Boston Bev's Paul, and worried about Heather??? My editor is wanting more and more pages so I will be working hard right up until Christmas. My torn (probably) rotator cuff really hurts and so do my thumb joints. But I'm writing through the pain; I don't notice it when I'm writing, but it hurts to change the channel, for heavens' sake! And try crawling out of bed without disturbing the cat. Took me 6 minutes this morning! There's always some cat or other sharing my sleeping accomodations, and dogs all over the floor. None of them want to move an inch. Thank you for the birthday cards and email greetings! It's nice to be 50 again. My favorite age. I'd better get back to writing. Oh, yes, this is kind of exciting to me. My friend Donna's daughter and granddaughter are in Hollywood where the g.d. is trying out for some Disney role, and is quite active as a model. They were driving down Hollywood Blvd. this morning and that great big billboard has my name on it, along with the miniseries advertisement. I hope the producers who bamboozled me back in the seventies see it! I was such a babe in the woods when it came to Hollywood, but I learned fast. I have spent at least an hour today shoveling p--p the animals left, and that will keep me humble. Love to all, and I hope everyone heals up and feels so much better. Oh, have to brag one more time. My granddaughter, "Tweets" now has a vocabulary of about 70 words. She's 15 months today. Maybe she'll be a writer, too. Love, Ann Rememember if you write to me personally, don't address it to the guestbook, but use my email address on the Home Page. |

Hi gang!
Feeling bad because I can't answer everyone personally. Elyse, I'm so sorry your Mom has moved on,and I do empathize. Thank you for your post. My mom used to read my manuscripts aloud to me so I could hear how they sounded. It was a special time for us. She died in May 1995, and I STILL find myself reaching for the phone to call her. Now, I'm the mom and grandma who gets to help with problems and share bookwriting.
I don't have a page on Facebook. I landed there accidentally several months ago, but never signed up. If someone is talking crime there, claiming to be me--it isn't!
As many of you know, I bit off more deadlines than I could chew this year, and it seems as though I'm writing ALL the time. I should be finished by Christmas if I just stick to it. I'll be away interviewing a lot for the next few weeks, attending a legal hearing, and writing In the Still of the Night wherever I am. This book will ask you questions that you may struggle to answer--and I need to know what you all think.
Thanks for the fried green tomato recipe. I hope they don't rot now as the rain pours down. My Roma tomatoes taste way too bland, too. I already miss the sunny days of summer.
Somebody dumped scores of junk logs in Puget Sound. I just hope no boats run into them and jam their propellers. So thoughtless--and illegal.
I'm so proud of Col.Rosie--losing all that weight. That's a triumph~!
Yes, I think the balloon-boy might be a hoax. But that film of a baby stroller falling onto tracks in Australia is all too real. What a miracle that the baby survived under the train for 90 feet with only a bruise!
You can click on My Homepage link to previews of my LMN miniseries. Won't be long now. Nov: 7, 14, 15th.
I hope it is warm and dry wherever you are this weekend!
Anyone who knew Ronda Reynolds or Ron Reynolds in Lewis County, WA., please contact me at this email.
Love,

Ladies, ladies, what are you up to? I didn't think my guestbook would end up being a spot for corny cow jokes! If you can, try to start some threads on the legal system, suspects, famous crimes, criminology theories, etc. I know that Arletta and Arlyss are hopeless but the rest of you showed such promise. :*( . Even though I think you're hilarious, I wonder what newbies to the site think???
I have never written about Alice Crimmins, but I've been doing research on her lately. Thought I would include her story in #15 of the True Crime Files. Her story began before my time in the crime writer's seat, but it always intrigued me in a horrible kind of way.
It's raining buckets here after what I consider the Northwest's most wonderful summer weather in memory. My critters keep asking me to take them to New Mexico or Arizona! They hate rain. I love it.
I was sorry to hear of the death of an old friend--Stuart Kaminsky, a crime/mystery writer himself. You will find the title of a great book he wrote on my home page. Order it if you can.
I have to get back to writing AND doing my income tax. Sigh. I'm a terrible person at keeping neat records, but my friend Donna helps me when I fall too far behind.
Have a new computer, and it still has glitches. It's very fancy. I'm trying to send pictures to Lifetime for their publicity for the movies/minis in November, and it's fighting me.
Colorado Rosie, are you still losing weight? I've taken off about 30 pounds since last year, but I'm not quite skinny yet. :*)
Thanks for the green tomato recipe. I have more than 100 greenies on one plant. I'll bring them in, hang them in my cottage office and they'll ripen.
After 1/1/10, I expect to have more free time to write blogs. Autumn is my favorite season, with brilliant maples and bright yellow maples, too.
Love to all, and Good Health.

Hi ARFs,
I miss you all, but my days and evenings have been full of problems that came in bunches and demanded agonizing decisions. I'm really hoping for the light at the end of the tunnel!
Thinking always of Missmimi and Indiana Joan and Carolyn's "Honey." How lucky you are to have a man for many years and still call him "my Honey."
I'll be up late tonight doing Income Tax stuff, and sending photos to Lifetime. Then I plan to hole up for the weekend and do my usual "writing like the wind." As I said, I expect a little fun time about Boxing Day in January.
Here's a good question: do you ever feel as though you are doing the best you can for people, and find out you've been sticking your finger in an electric socket and should have kept your mouth shut in the first place? Sigh.
Jan,I didn't get your message you were sailing through the lower 48 until it was too late. Three of my computers quit on me and I bought a new one, only to find it was much too fancy for me to hook up. Then I waited for the computer guy--but I do have a good one now. Happy really belated birthday!
Diane Downs was turned down at her first parole hearing in January. She appeared to be living in an alternate universe with her bizarre monologue on the stand.
We've had perfect October weather and spectacular sunsets. I try to stop and smell the Chrysanthemums as often as I can. Back to work--hope to finish by 10 p.m. Fed the dogs first, at least--so they won't drive me nuts!!!
I think But I Trusted You comes out about November 20th. I haven't seen it yet. November promises to be a big month for me. I'll have to polish all my cubic zirconiums.
Love,

| Saturday Night |
Hi Guys,
I wish I could say I'm taking it easy but I can't do that until January! Working away on In the Still of the Night. It's turned very cold in Seattle, and I've warmed up some homemade chili for tonight.
Here, I believe is the straight scoop on my LMN movies. I hope my webmasters can copy it for the Home Page, too. I'll try to have some previews. Nov-7: 8-12 p.m. Too Late to Say Goodbye.Nov-14:8-12 p.m. Everything She Ever Wanted.and THEN ***** "Ann Rule All the Time All Day" on Nov 15th. Both of the above new minis and also And Never Let Her Go.My Hollywood agent is trying to get me on "The View" to talk about them. It would be neat, but don't hold your breath. :*) I haven't seen the minis/movie yet myself. When things like this happen, I still have to pinch myself. It seems as though most of my life is doing dishes, picking up cat and dog "surprises, doing laundry, and writing, writing, and writing in a kind of crummy-looking basement.
I'm still fighting the joint pain, but about to go for some acupuncture. And I'm dreaming of a vacation. Sigh. But, on the other hand,I love to write--so I'm lucky.
I'm feeling very sorry for John Travolta. How dare the media torment him when he is clearly in so much pain over losing Jett? Any parent will understand. He's made a fortune, but he's had so many tragedies. Sad. He loved Jett, and that should be respected.
Please send your best recipes for fried green tomatoes. I have tons of them. Well, maybe a bushel. Or a Peck. I think of you every day and read the guestbook. Remember not to write personal stuff to the guestbook--but send it to my email listed on the home page.
Love to you all!

Hi gang!
I'd better mention my talks and signings that are coming up--kind of snuck up on me, and my faithful webmasters will, I'm sure, post the dates, times, etc. on the Homepage. Please remember not to skip the Homepage every time because we will be updating news there.
On September 17th, I'll be speaking to the International Association of Women Police in Seattle. On the 19th, Donna Anders, Leslie Rule and I will be in Portland signing books at the newly remodeled Fred Meyer Store (Hawthorne Store) in the afternoon. On Oct. 28th, I'll be speaking at a luncheon in Tacoma, WA to help raise money for sex crime victims' advocates and support. I know it's at noon, but I'll get the place very soon.
I have started In the Still of the Night, and will be working on it constantly, too. There will be a short "sample" of that book in But I Trusted You, out in late November. Have to go to work now. No time off for me until about Christmas, I'm afraid.
I've seem my physical therapist and learned lots of neat, painless, ways to get up and down, and sideways. My muscles have NOT atrophied at all! So that's good news. I just have to remember to get up from my computer and run around the house or on the beach or up and down stairs more often. We all get into bad habits and don't notice until we start to hurt!
Kate Jewell (from Mortal Danger) stayed with me last night on her way home from California where she checks on her mom--who had a bad fall a year ago--every month. She's a very good friend and deserves some down time for herself. I guess we all do.
I'll write again after I send a bunch of stuff off to the publisher--on both books. It's 83 here and beautiful!
But it's definitely September, and summer is tiptoeing away. Catch her if you can before she goes! My squash crop continues to thrive!
Prayers and Cheers for all who need them. Nobody can overcome an ARF and the rest of the pack!
Love,
Ann |

A request first. Would the man who called me about Jaycee Duggard back in 1993 and emailed me last week please try again. I have searched and searched, but I cannot find your message that came in while I was on a short vacation. I would like to talk with you, and congratulate you. I'm glad I believed in you way back then. Wish others had.
The rains are about to descend on Seattle for the Labor Day Weekend. My flowers will be happy at least, but they're fading a bit as we hit September. I hope you all have better weather, and we all have some "down time."
Hey, I can not only grow Zucchini, I also have harvested 20 Danish squash, with more on the plants, not to mention tomatoes. I'm giggling with triumph. Time for more Zucchini bread. I love to cook, but have no one to cook for. Sigh. Even my favorite male friend might be a better cook than I am--he always cooks, and he doesn't like desserts--my specialty!
Puget Sound is like gleaming gray satin right now; it looks different all the time, and I'm so lucky to live here.
Have to go and feed the dogs. Big dogs; big appetites.
Indiana Joan, let us know how you're doing? And anyone else who has worries right now, we're here for you. I always thought life would get easier and calmer after fifty, but that doesn't seem to be the case, does it?
Tonight, I will escape into my new stack of tabloids and read all about celebrity problems. When it comes right down to it, is there ANYONE you would change places with?
Love and a Happy Holiday!
