Hi Ann! Hope the move is going well. Moving just sucks! If you ever manage to find the time, I was wondering about any updates you might have for some of the people you've written about. I find those fascinating! Would love to know about Cinnamon especially and if Diane Downes ever got released.

Hi Everyone, I think I must be one of the lucky ones. When I was 21 years old, I made the decision that I didn't want children. I felt that I was selfish and the type of person who would be too neglectful of my child's needs. I never changed my mind, and more than 35 years later, I do not regret my decision. Fortunately, I have two siblings who gave my parents the opportunity to be grandparents and me the opportunity to be an aunt. I was also fortunate to meet a like-minded man. I worry that if I had been forced into motherhood (like generations of women before me), I could have done harm to my children (mentally if not physically). We now have casinos in Pennsylvania, and one of them is less than 10 miles from where I live. There is a problem with people going into gamble for several hours and leaving their kids in the car.
I am reading Richard North Patterson's new novel, "In the Name of Honor", which will be my holiday weekend reading material. I actually started "Small Sacrifices" a few days ago, but then the Patterson book, which I had waited for all summer, finally came in at one of my local libraries. So "Small Sacrifices" has been put on hold. I did find the part I did read to be quite engrossing and look forward to resuming it.
I hope that if you live in a country observing Labor/Labour Day that you have a great holiday weekend.

Dear Ann, and all you other Dears who responded to my post, I cannot tell you how much your words mean to me. I am taking your advice to heart and working on detaching myself from my mother s problems. I have already stopped calling her every day to check on her. She is only abusive and the facility will let me know if anything is wrong. I am kind of amazed that I feel better already by just doing that! I am intelligent enough to know when I am getting good advice - and this advice is from wives and mothers and grandmothers like myself. Your advice and opinions are much more believable to me than a doctor s opinion (usually a man). God bless you all! Thank you again and again!

So well said Ann! I too have grown up with a woman who had no business having children. Although she lavished love on one of my brothers, the rest of us she treated like crap. A very angry and mean woman then and now. You made my day even better! I go through the guilt thing every once inawhile too and it is tough to cut oneself from a parent but my life is all the better for it! It made me a kinder and gentler person! You are truly an angel Ann!.......by the way, I am not really in Russia. I am reading a book about Russian history circa 1918 so I am feeling somewhat like I am near the Kremlin.....or is it the Catherine Palace....oh. It is our gargar...just cleaned the lens on my glasses. I must don my tutu and dance the lead in the "Nutcracker".....maybe not?

Ann, that was such a lovely and intelligent reply. I'm sure you would have made a fine counsellor yourself!
Happy weekend everyone. We're getting the tail end of a hurricane here so the air is fresh and breazy.I love this time of year!

A teenage in Kansas, Alica Debolt, who has been missing was found dead in a dumpster, someone had burned her body. Such a tragic story, someone so young. Would like to see you take on this in a book.

Ann, In August a Texas man, Mickey Weldon Patterson, was arrested in Bend Oregon for the murder of two women in 2006 in Lubbock Texas. Very strange story, maybe you could look into it.
